The Visualista is artist Alia Malley. She has a BA in Critical Film Studies from USC School of Cinematic Arts and an MFA in Visual Art from UC Riverside.

When she’s not busy as The Visualista, Alia works with photography and video to explore modes of representation— specifically the roles of landscape, cinematic narrative of place, technology, and human geography in structures of power. 

Her work is included in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the UCLA Library Special Collections, and the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection. Her project Captains of the Dead Sea has been published by Nazraeli Press and she’s an Adjunct Assistant Professor at ArtCenter College of Design.
